Local councils often have free entertainment on public holidays as well as on annually reoccurring celebrations that are not public holidays.
How good these are or if they exists at all will depend on your local council.
It is always worth checking out the councils website and checking for upcoming events. For example for Australia Day Blacktown council put on a big event with live music from big Aussie bands and free fair rides and fireworks display. And for the lunar new year they have another event featuring Peppa pig show, more free rides, themed kids activities and fireworks.
There is heaps and heaps of value in these events and you can enjoy them completely free.

Free shopping centre entertainment.
During the school holidays many of the shopping centres have free activities and events for kids so they can draw in shoppers.
It’s often worth checking the local shops website or just going to each once in the lead up to the holidays to see what is on.
We have met with kids tv carachters, seen small stage shows by them, played with LEGO and play dough, done some cooking, made arts and crafts, and taken home free souvenirs.
These free activities, entertainment and samples have been a great rainy day filler as well as often being good fun in their own right.

Turning foodwaste into snacks
Turning foodwaste into snacks.
We have a toddler in our house , which means we end up with a bunch of half eaten apples that nobody wants.
we make them and our apple cores into apple pastries.
If you do this be sure to remove the seeds as they contain cyanide and can kill you if they are grated and consumed.
We do this by grating the leftover apples and apple cores minus seeds, and folding them inside pastry triangles. And baking them in the oven.
They are a tasty treat that we all love. They also keep well in the fridge. Not that they last long enough for that.
If you would like a detailed recipe toake this, check out
